Dear Lord

Sweep, laundry

Dear Lord,
I have swept and I have washed
but still…
I am unfulfilled
These burdens weigh heavy
And last through the night
Will I ever be ready
To give up the fight
The dust lingers under the rug
And the stains remain on my soul
When will I have done enough
To feel completely whole
I’ve heard I should trust you
And that better days are ahead
But, lord, to tell you the truth
It’s easier to trust myself instead
Still I sweep and still I wash
Still I struggle to carry this load
You must be patient, lord,
Because grace is all I know
