A local radio personality and his wife recently responded on his show to his adult daughter’s public announcement in which she came out as bisexual. My purpose in this article is not to discuss sexual orientation; however, I feel it pertinent to say I have friends and acquaintances who are part of the LGBTQ community. I also think it’s important for me to say that I don’t believe people who love others of the same sex are living in sin. Now, I know there are those of you who can point to certain Scriptures and claim that I am wrong, and that’s fine. To that I say, we interpret those Scriptures differently, and probably, view them in different contexts. I am not here to argue about what constitutes as sin and what doesn’t.

With all that said, the heart of this article is about the response of the radio host to his daughter. My initial response to his public admonition was anger. I’d be lying if I said it doesn’t still make me angry. But I also have to admit that a few years ago, I would have agreed with him.

I think he believes he is acting loving toward his daughter. I think he sincerely believes he’s doing the right thing. I think he believes what he is doing is bringing glory to God. And I also think he is very wrong.
