Songs For Women’s Ministry AND The Local Bar?

There was never a question about the message: grace. The questions came when deciding on the delivery.

I had more than a few conversations with my producer/co-writer about how best to deliver the message of grace to both churched and unchurched people. Thankfully, God gave us both the same passion for discovering and exposing grace through vulnerable, messy, intimate stories that make up humanity.

The decision was made early in the process that the songs on my music project wouldn’t contain a bunch of church-y words. My intent and hope was (and still is) that people hurting within the walls of the church, those burned out on church, and those who don’t care anything about church could all identify with my deep need for Grace.

For those who identify, the songs seem to touch a deeply emotional, private place within them…a place too sacred to reveal to those who might not understand.

They’re not typical women’s ministry-style songs, nor would they be a hit at the local bar; yet, maybe they’re exactly the songs needed at both places. They’re real, raw and passionate. They dive below the surface to tell the messy story of grace. And let’s face it…whether we’re sitting in a church pew or on a bar stool, we’re all seeking the same thing: to be intimately known and deeply loved. We’re seeking grace…Grace.
