Good morning from Nashville!

Mark and I drove up yesterday, had lunch with George, and meandered up and down music row…all while I had a mini-breakdown.

Some of my first thoughts yesterday consisted of What the heck am I doing? I’m too old with too little experience to be doing this.

Mark gave me pep talks throughout the day, as did George during our rehearsal. Still, fear had the best of me yesterday.

When we arrived at the venue to sing, I wasn’t nervous so much as I was overwhelmed with my lack of experience, as well as my lack of ability to play an instrument {I was the only writer of the night without a guitar in my hands!}.

However, determination took over, and by the time I took my spot in the round, I was ready to do what I do…sing!

We were originally told we’d be performing two songs, but George made me prepare for three. Thank goodness he did! We were given the opportunity to do another.

We performed two songs from “Captured,” as well as a song we wrote a few weeks ago that we’ve yet to record.

All went well. I didn’t forget my words, fall off the stool, or otherwise make a fool of myself. And I think just maybe the audience liked our songs. Whew!

The night was a great opportunity to listen to other writers’ songs, watch them perform, and meet a few of them. I value their experience.

I’m relieved this first experience is over, and can’t wait to share our songs with you!
