I’ve been considering taking on the 31-day blog challenge for the last few weeks. I’ve made more than a few excuses as to why I wouldn’t have time to complete the challenge. And, really, my time is limited, but so is everybody else’s, right?

If you’ve been with me over the last few years, you know more than anyone else that my blogging has become sporadic, waning from daily posts down to just a few per month.

I need this challenge. And I need to be successful in it.

This year The last two years have resulted in a lot of unfinished projects for me, from music to writing to health. For me, unfinished equals failure.

I know and love the feeling of accomplishment. My inquisitive child recently asked me if I’d ever completed a goal I’d set. Of course, I have. I finished college; I co-wrote, recorded, and published an EP; and I’ve run half marathons, just to name a few.

But it wasn’t always that way.

I was in college before I realized the importance and feeling of accomplishment that comes with finishing a hard task. I’d taken on the role of yearbook editor after someone else unexpectedly quit. I had no idea what I was doing, and learned by trial and error. The night I wanted to give up and quit, I called in reinforcements, and we stayed up late into the night to meet a deadline. When all that work came back in book form, I lingered over it for days. I finally knew I wasn’t a quitter.

I need to know that again. I need to remind myself that I’m not a quitter. Maybe you need to remind yourself of that, too.

For 31 days I’ll be showing up here every day. You can expect my normal style of writing in addition to photo-posts, maybe a clip of new music, a short series, and pretty much anything that suits my fancy. Creativity inspires creativity, so this month, I’m creating and sharing with you in hopes that you’ll do some creating of your own.

What is it you love to do? Is there something you’ve quit? Is there something new you’ve been wanting to try? Maybe it’s as simple as journaling on a daily basis. Or reading a good book. Or exercising. Or cooking. Or spending focused time with the people you love. Whatever it is, take a chance with me, create some time and space for it, and do it every day this month.

I hope you’ll show up here with me! And if you decide to take on a 31-day challenge, leave me a comment so I can cheer you on as we show up together.
